Ooo someone mentioned kicadocaml!! If it is actually being used (even
for a trivial thing?) I'll continue to develop it (well, I'll probably
continue to develop it because I'll continue to use it). FYI
kicadocaml does use vertex buffer objects, but they are *not* in
graphics memory, unfortunately.

It has very nice features I must say, but I'd like to see some of that integrated in pcbnew. Push routing and flicker free drawing, what else can one hope for manual layout...

Even thoug they aren't in graphics memory, they are very much faster than immediate mode calling for every dot. When DRI2/GEM/KMS gets in to usable state there will be *BOs available in open source drivers too.

Just actually bought a pick and place robot for $100 off ebay. I
weighs ~1000 lbs - shipping was $378. Once I get it running I'll post
a video. In the meantime, I'm enjoying the PCB manufacturing/circuit
design conversation :-)

cheers!
Tim

I think it's quite affordable at that price anyway :) I hope you'll get it working well soon. BTW I sent you some files to test some bugs I found some months ago, have you had any time to work on that or did they get archived in /dev/null?
