Collada is mostly for games... CADs usually work from STL or (better)
STEP. STL is *very* limited while STEP is not exactly public (pay for
specs); also STEP is *very* complicated:(((

IDF seems the way to go *but* there are few package which actually
import it (IIRC only very-high-end stuff...)
