Is this theory anything? :
Linux is I think a little more flexible on dynamic linking than windows is. So we may
have inadvertently become dependent on a feature of linux that will not be present on windows.
Namely, the ability to dynamically link to the startup image of the process, i.e. the main
executable file, rather than the DSO.
In window terms, that means that dynamically linking to the *.EXE is not analogously
possible to my knowledge, only to a *.DLL.
