I've just tested this on a 9800GT with nouveau drivers. Default
rendering mode is really laggy (as is in the vanilla pcbnew). On the
other hand OpenGL mode is much better, and OpenGL with shaders is
super-smooth.

Is there any chance GAL can be incorporated into a Kicad release, even
if GAL development will continue to be branched? I'd love to be able to
design my PCBs in one of the new graphic modes. Also, this would bring a
lot more bug reports.

P.S. I can't emphasize enough how much I like the new rendering modes.
