May I ask you to have a look at:
sweet_spec_for_schematic_parts_EN.fodt
in kicad sources.
And especially the short but very interesting chapter:
*Logical coordinates.*
Currently, you can expect that a logical unit (basic pin grid size) is
the 50 mils grid.
I confirm core developers are thinking the fact internal units are mils
or millimeters has no matter in a schematic.
