I imagined something like that, it's *still* called that way even in
Italy...

Well, I've seen them called Component Side and Copper Side, since when
board where single sided with only THT it was unambiguos. These days
however it's better to call them Top/Bottom or Front/Back since there is
copper (and ofter components, too) on both sides.

IPC by the way call them 'primary access side' and 'secondary access
side', in the D356 standard (for nailbeds or moving probe testers),
probably because since board are easily flipped even front/back is not
clear enough...
