Re: Footprint python plugin: Is it possible to merge ?

In response to a message written on 06.11.2014 09:22, from jp charras:
Wayne and I are thinking the main (the only one) purpose of this python
plugin is to allow import of footprint libraries coming from an other
EDA tool,
not to create a new footprint wizard (There is already a more powerful
python wizard mechanism in Kicad).
My intention was point, that name „Python” is inadequate, too general and does not describe plugin functionality. You can imagine in the future a situation where someone else will write yet another plugin for python - then will be a problem…
My new propose is „pyVirtualFootprint”:
- py - from python,
- Virtual - because it is not a real library, but script interface and it might be other EDA proxy or generator
- Footprint - because the fp-lib-table refers to footprints
Shorter might be „pyVFootprint”.
BTW. The main intention of the functionality doesn't interfere another one, if someone other finds it convenient for him…
