Re: Intel video drivers on linux
I have a a Dell Inspiron N411Z with an Intel HD 3000. After fine tuning it
with some boot options in order to stop it from draining the battery
(i915.semaphores=1 i915.i915_enable_rc6=7 i915.i915_enable_fbc=1),
everything was fine.
The only issue I have is:
[56351.897472] [drm:intel_pipe_update_end [i915]] *ERROR* Atomic update
failure on pipe B (start=10600 end=10601) time 493 us, min 892, max 899,
scanline start 868, end 896

failure on pipe A (start=1371399 end=1371400) time 736 us, min 763, max

failure on pipe B (start=40925 end=40926) time 307 us, min 892, max 899,

it used to be quite severe, causing a gpu reset and segmentations faults
for kicad.

Also keep in mind that there is a pre-enabled kernel option in some Distros
that corrupts the BIOS on some laptops.
