That has three problems:

 - it only saves something if all the error messages use the same template
 - the grammar needs to be unchanged for all errors in all languages
 - it requires two lookups, which looks ugly in the code

While we're at it: do we have a sensible way to use context dependent
positive/negative responses in different places for languages that need
them, e.g. "Save?", "Yes", "No" needs to be translated into both
Mandarin and Welsh as if it read "Save?", "Save." "Don't save.", because
these languages affirm by repeating the verb.

I dimly remember that GNU gettext has some kind of context marker, but
I'm not sure if that is portable.
