There is already an importance field in Launchpad for bug reports, one just needs to be a member of the Ubuntu QA team to set it for Ubuntu bugs. While you can do whatever you want with tags I think using them to indicate importance would be redundant as this field already exists. I believe that tags are useful for providing a way to group bugs that appear in a wide variety of packages or for isolating a certain type of bug in a package. One way to address the situation that you encountered would be granting bug reporters the ability to set the importance of their submitted bugs as wishlist, which does seem quite useful. -- Brian Murray
