When I designed the new layout, I drew a mockup that showed a small number of subscribers, so it looked fine and logical to have the subscribe/unsubscribe links at the end of the list. But with real data, when the list of subscribers was very long, this didn't work so well. I have submitted a fix that puts the subscribe/unsubscribe links at the top of the list, instead of at the bottom. This fix should appear on edge.launchpad.net in the next day or two, and on launchpad.net sometime in the coming week.
