The important thing to understand is that in your project there are two
places where translations can be done:

     1. Upstream project in Launchpad
     2. Ubuntu source package in Launchpad

On 1. you as the developer chose to enable translations, whereas in 2.
they were enabled following the Ubuntu policy of exposing all packages
in main for translation.

You'll find some general info on why we do this and the implications for
upstreams and for translators here:

  https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Translations/Upstream

Now, going back to the question on how to export translations:

      * Upstream project in Launchpad: you can export translations
manually using this link [1]. However, to make your life as a
maintainer easier, you can activate automatic translation
        exports here [2] to make
      * Ubuntu source package in Launchpad: usually the Ubuntu source
packages have got more visibility than the upstream packages, as
we've got a very big translation community. Therefore, it is
usual to have more translations in the Ubuntu packages unless
translators themselves forward them to the upstream project.
Often as a maintainer you find this situation, and might want to
include the additional Ubuntu translations to your package. You
can do it by exporting a tarball from here [3].

I realise this is suboptimal, but the Launchpad Translations team are
actively working towards improving this situation and making upstream
integration and sharing translations more automated and much more
useful.

Regards,
David.
