[Bug 918870] [NEW] openshot does not work with all Blender versions >2.56
Public bug reported:
Openshot gives error with Blender 2.61. Error does not exist with
Blender 2.59.
Installed OpenShot 1.4.0 and Blender 2.61 from repositories (http://ppa.launchpad.net/openshot.developers/ppa/ubuntu and http://ppa.launchpad.net/cheleb/blender-svn/ubuntu).
With this install, Openshot gives following error:
Blender location:
/usr/bin/blender
Error message:
No frame was found in the output from Blender.
The blender location was verified to be correct by executing
/usr/bin/blender in the terminal.
To solve, someone suggested to unpack Blender Tar to /home/user/blender.
Followed these steps with current Blender 2.61 and changed blender
location to /home/user/blender 2.61/blender. However, same error
remains.
Then I unpacked Blender 2.59 tar to /home/user/blender 2.59/blender and
changed openshot reference to point to the correct blender executable.
Now my title generator does work! So at least that part of the problem
has been solved.
It appears that openshot expects a response from Blender that prevents
it to work with the latest Blender version as installed from
repositories. From comments on the net it appears that many users still
have trouble operating Openshot with Blender.
system info:
Pentium 4 2.66GHz, 1285 Mb RAM, GeForce 5700FX
Ubuntu 10.04.3 LTS - Lucid Lynx, Kernel 2.6.32 - 37 - generic (i686)
** Affects: openshot
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
