It would be good if the user could see the timestamp of the last
received/sent message in the private message window status bar. The
timestamp should include the date too, since usually the timestamp on
the chat only shows the time, but it can happen that you leave home for
a couple of days. In such a case, when you come back, you won't have any
idea what day you received the message.
