A Brief Introduction

Greetings!

Since I recently subscribed to the British English Translations Team,
I thought a word or three of introduction may be in order.

By now you have probably already worked out my name (it's James, in
case you haven't). I live with my wife, two boys and five cats in
Mickleover, on the western edge of Derby. I also work from there, for
Canonical Online Services. My current focus is the new Software Store.

I've been using Linux distributions since around 1997, starting with
Slackware and settling on Ubuntu full-time in 2006. During that time
I've also brought my family into the Ubuntu community (we don't have a
copy of Windows in the house); this recently extended outside the
confines of my own home to include my dad!

For all that, I'm very new to Launchpad translations. In the course of
my work I needed a way to present dynamic content in the Store Scope
(26 Departments, each with a Highlight, plus 10 top-level Highlights)
in a localised format for each of the 71 languages and variants we
currently support. Launchpad seemed to be the logical choice for
scaling that kind of translation effort, and so my journey began!

As you were!

JT
