A couple of thoughts from a chat
Hi,
I was chatting to one of those 'nice' people and he had a couple of thoughts
on lubuntu.
(11:11:17) >>: oh I found the advanced option in the lubuntu install after
nvidia killed it
(11:13:20) phillw: would you care to jot down what you did and email it to
me / the lubuntu list or just put it directly onto the wiki page, all
documentation is greatfully received :-)
(11:15:57) >>: here you go - install lubuntu - miss advanced option -
reinstall grub2 for ubuntu - run lubuntu - install nvidia - swear (a lot) -
reinstall lubuntu with advanced option this time
(11:16:44) >>: couldn't get back to sensible grpahics after installing
nvidia - it was not in hardware drivers - nor did lubuntu install any of the
nvidia modaliases packages
(11:18:19) phillw: I'll ask gilir about the possibility of including the
nvidia modaliases packages with the CD, do you think it would affect many
people with not having it?
(11:19:22) >>: well if it means they try to install nvidia and then get
stuck with 800x600 resolution I'd think so
Any thoughts on that one? Either include the modaliases or just a mention on
the wiki page.
(11:20:08) >>: I think lubuntu should use guayadeque :)
(11:21:19) phillw: i had no problems with aqualung, but i only play music
from my hard-disk (I like my own music collection)
(11:22:27) >>: so do I - but still what is with all that music store stuff -
not very intuitive in my opinion - especially as people will likely be used
to other medi apps
(11:24:57) phillw: things like music player would just have been a case of
find an app that doesn't drag in 1/2 the gnome library with it ;-)
(11:25:39) >>: shame that they found that one :) I still say it is rubbish
to setup ... imho of course
(11:26:13) phillw: is guayadeque any good?
(11:26:59) phillw: and 'small'?
(11:27:01) >>: I like it - it is in constant dev at the moment though
(11:27:37) >>: I think it is quiet small - the guy developing it would be
easy to talk too
(11:27:58) >>: I know it is only using 23Mb of memory here

But, he likes lubuntu :-)
