You can probably backport the source package to Lucid -- download the
source package files, edit one line in the changelog, debuild, test,
debuild -S -sa, dput your version up to your own PPA, wait for it to
build, done.
Of course, if it has dependencies that are not in Lucid, you might end
up having to backport those, too ... but lack of a package for your
chosen release should not be a major issue. Ubuntu (and therefore
Lubuntu) is all about open source, so you can use it to rebuild the
software within the Ubuntu world any way you want :)
