Re: ppc bugs - Desktop Beta 1

How should I go about trouble shooting and collecting useful info? I can not make the G4 iBook install at all, neither Beta 1, or daily build. It should in theory be able to run both Ubuntu and Lubuntu. In the latest daily I could not even launch a working terminal.

could you take a bit of time to reply to this thread with the current state
of play on the PPC Desktop Beta 1.
big ones are:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-ati/+bug/1046951
and
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1046619

from a message from Greg suggests that latest daily (20120912) should fix the latter. we need to confirm this.

Ben Collins, not of the lubuntu-qa team, has assigned the former to himself. it's already confirmed, but if you haven't already, do so, as that will turn up the heat. the thinking is it's a kernel driver bug.

the related openchrome bug, i might add, despite original suggestion, DOES NOT APPLY to powerpc:
https://launchpad.net/bugs/1041625

speaking of powerpc, please file bugs if you got them and tag them "powerpc." when you're looking to help please check bugs tagged "powerpc" :)

It also does appear that at least one of the bugs cannot be replicated on a
virtual machine set up. If this is indeed the case, you guys are really
going to have to help the devs out to a level not normally seen.
do we have that many people doing vm testing?
