Re: make new Lubuntu versions cooperate with Pentium M

Hello amjjawad and everybody else reading this mail,

I think everybody can decide to run a linux version, that is not
supported or only partially supported with security updates. It probably
works well without any intruder stealing information or using your
system for other illegal purposes.

But I would never recommend it for somebody else, because there is an
increased risk, that the system might get compromised. And Lubuntu 12.04
will be only partially supported after October 2013.

What do you think about ronniew's LXLE? He takes '12.04 LTS
responsibility' of the Lubuntu specific packages. I don't know exactly
how he is doing that, maybe by picking new versions from upstream
sources? I think it will be safer than plain Lubuntu 12.04, but will it
be as safe as a release supported by Canonical? Or safe enough to
recommend to other people?

I'm asking, because LXLE offers support for a Lubuntu system (remix or
fork?) that works with non-pae CPUs until April 2017. So the fake-pae
issue can be solved that way and the Pentium Ms will have four more
years to run without leaving 'the Ubuntu family'.

     -o-

@amjjawad, I understand that you discourage me to continue with the
fake-pae issue.

Best regards
Nio
