Today's kernel just froze:

$ uname -a
Linux lubuntu 3.11.0-7-generic #14-Ubuntu SMP Mon Sep 16 18:37:27 UTC
2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

I still can't get it to freeze on demand but it seems to happen more
often when plugging in a USB device or shutting down the system.  Though
it still happens when not doing anything special, including sometimes
while idling.
