Hi Lars,
With such and old processor (only 900 MHz), we cannot be sure that there
is PAE capability. Try with a non-pae kernel - and a very light-weight
distro
ToriOS, Wary Puppy, TahrPup, Tiny Core.
If you want to try 14.04 LTS, I suggest that you try with something with
Phill's non-pae kernel, for example
http://phillw.net/isos/linux-tools/9w/obi_Trusty-nonpae-txt5-9w.iso
according to
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/9w
A 12.04 LTS non-pae mini.iso can be found here
http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/precise-updates/main/installer-i386/current/images/netboot/non-pae/mini.iso
5a7184d44475a6581a33307b753ca393 ./netboot/non-pae/mini.iso
-o-
You might have to connect an old CD drive, or install into the HDD in
another computer and take advantage of the portability of linux.
Best regards
Nio
