True, this is my point about DVB-S, I really have no idea about it. I
have no knowledge, no hardware, no developers, no testers and no
champions.

When I started developing Me TV a year ago, I also had no idea how to
do it. Development isn't about know-how, it's about "99%
perspiration", I'm a little disappointed by the number of people who
just don't try.

Feedback? You have feedback, where is it? :) I really don't hear much
about it apart from complaints from people that want things changed.

BTW, that is my goal, I've created a DVB application that is far more
usable that kaffeine because its goal is specific. My wife had real
trouble with kaffeine because it had too many buttons, and to be
honest, for a person that just wants to watch TV it does have too many
buttons.

The features for 0.6 are not closed yet, although it's getting closer.
Can I ask what "description" you are referring to?

Cheers,

Michael

Status in Me TV, it's TV for me computer: Confirmed

Bug description:
Ubuntu 8.10 development version
Me-TV 0.5.33
DVB-S card

When using dvb-s, Astra 19.2 east and Hotbird 13e are two satellite positions that are widely used in Western Europe. Each of these satellites broadcasts over 1000 channels.

Me-Tv becomes quite unresponsive when using a huge channel-list; it takes very long to start up; opening the EPG takes very long,...

A work around for the user is to only keep the few channels that are of interest to him in the channel list; but I hope that it will be possible to really speed up the channel handling. (Maybe that it will require separating channel switching and epg)
