Message #00035
Licenses
Hi All,
I hope that everyone will comment on this. At least give a +1 or a -1
so we can gauge the sentiment on it. :-)
Previously we have issued OSHIP under a dual-license model using the MPL
and GPL to meet users needs. Though fairly common this does seem to
cause confusion and it does hurt OSHIP distribution into the "Free
Software" world.
With the next generation of OSHIP (OSHIPpy 2.x) it will be much less
tied to it's own framework and in fact will be an installable egg; so
it'll be available as a library to application developers.
The LGPL license seems to meet the needs in order to keep the purist
Free Software folks happy as well as allowing people to build commercial
closed source applications using OSHIP.
So if you agree to licensing OSHIP 2.x as LGPL please reply with a +1.
If you disagree to licensing OSHIP 2.x as LGPL please reply with a -1.
Of course general comments and questions are encouraged as well.
Cheers,
Tim
