After further research, unless someone steps forward to maintain this
package, it appears that it is now abandoned.  If no-one volunteers, it
should probably be removed from the Ubuntu repo since having an outdated
(and now broken) package simply causes users confusion.

This package is in dire need of an update.  The packaged version is no longer compatible with the ffmpeg that's in Karmic:
