Since we're making some progress on "Listing some Menu Selections in CAPITALS?," I thought I'd go ahead and shoot this out to you all for feedback in case we want to post it first to our Forum's wiki thread. Also I wanted to mention that we have quite a winter storm headed our way and that if for some reason you don't hear from me for awhile, it may be because our electricity is out.

Anyway, here are my findings for the NewDocs D page https://help.ubuntu.com/community/D . I checked for outdated and tagged pages, for those addressing versions of Ubuntu no longer supported, and for anything else that might need to be addressed. Below is what I found, plus I have questions which I will pose first.

QUESTIONS:

Some are links to websites rather than wiki help pages. For example,
- all of the Debian pages
- Debugging Dpkg problems http://shearer.org/Debugging_Dpkg_Problems
- Ubuntu Design Blog http://design.canonical.com/
- Devices http://www.ubuntu.com/phone (acutally "Ubuntu on phones")

1. Should they be left on the D page or moved to Helpful Links https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Links ? 2. Do we need the last two at all since they have nothing to do with help?

Below are pages that are candidates to be moved to ToBeReviewed https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ToBeReviewed unless anyone thinks otherwise for any of them.

OUTDATED PAGES:

DansGuardian https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DansGuardian (last edited 2011-08-27) DeletingFiles https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DeletingFiles (last edited 2011-04-08) DemystifyingUnityGraphicsHardwareRequirements https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DemystifyingUnityGraphicsHardwareRequirements (last edited 2011-05-06) DMZ host with SecurePass https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DMZ%20host%20with%20SecurePass (last edited 2012-02-08) Dnsmasq https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Dnsmasq (last edited 2011-12-15) DrivesAndPartitions https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DrivesAndPartitions (last edited 2011-05-19) DualBoot https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DualBoot (last edited 2012-01-16) DynamicMultiMonitor https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DynamicMultiMonitor (last edited 2011-10-14)

TAGGED PAGES:

"this page does not exist yet"
DebianImportFreeze https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DebianImportFreeze
DownThemAll https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DownThemAll

"needs expansion"
DigitalCameraHowTo https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DigitalCameraHowTo

"This page does not reach the quality of the UserDocumentation https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UserDocumentation series of index pages, but contains useful information" DVDAuthoring https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DVDAuthoring (also probably outdated - last edited 2010-06-05)

UBUNTU VERSIONS NO LONGER SUPPORTED: none, but see below.

I recommend removing the following two pages altogether:

Debugging Sound Problems https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DebuggingSoundProblems - redirects to SoundTroubleshooting https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SoundTroubleshooting?action=show&redirect=DebuggingSoundProblems which advises the info is largely outdated. DRBD https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DRBD (blank page last edited 2010-03-09). This could be moved toToBeReviewed https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ToBeReviewed if we think someone might do something with it.

Thoughts?
Leigh

Hi Leigh,

A few comments, David may possibly add his too! The Debian Pages were inserted by David, I believe for their relevance.

Regarding "Debugging Sound Problems" I think the better choice is the Wiki https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingSoundProblems which though is also old. Perhaps it could be placed in the "to be reviewed page"? The associated "Audio" page is at present in the NewDocs/Bank to be inserted soon.

The Design Blog and Devices page I inserted with approval. Personally I think these pages sit alright in the main NewDocs pages if only for an interest.

Regarding the DRBD page, I think this could be deleted - If it is taken up by someone later, we will catch up with it on the Recent Changes Page.

The two "this page does not exist yet" I think could be deleted although not sure where the Debian one came from - David may comment.

Cheers,
Geoff.

Hi Leigh,

oops - looks like I probably double posted - sorry about that.

Thinking about it, I think I would leave https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingSoundProblems in as I think it is what I would consider a "Major Page". It has several links which fall under our 18 month deadline. Just my thoughts.

Cheers,
Geoff.
