[Bug 389156] [NEW] Cannot set submask when using static IP, network manager 0.7

Public bug reported:

Since Network-manager has been update on the mini to version 0.7, I can
no longer set the submask to the proper value (i.e. 255.255.255.0). This
happens when I want to use a manual configuration for a wired
connection. Instead of the submask I set, a number (24, usually) is
saved and the connection doesn't work. I noticed that this only happens
when trying to change the "auto eth0", while the submask is saved
correctly when creating a separate wired profile.

To reproduce:
Open network-manager ("edit connections") and edit auto et0. Select the "ipv4 settings" tab. In the drop down select "manual". Fill in all the required fields (IP, gateway and submask.

Expected:
All parameters are saved correctly.

Actual:
Instead of the value typed in for submask, another is saved (usually 24, or 25), and the connection doesn't work.

P.S. this is a known problem in network manager 0.7 in intrepid. There
are bugs filed for it such as:
