Question from the Swedish translation team:

Will all translations done for server/addons and version 6.1 be copied
to 7.0? We have thousands of hours of transkateing booth old bad
translations and new with focus at 2012. The state of trunk (and now
7.0) are mainly 2010.

There will be no manual step to copy the translations from version 6.1 to trunk because the translations are automatically synchronized between series, in real-time. So I'm not sure what you mean by "are mainly 2010".

If you translate term "foo" in 6.1 and "foo" exists in 7.0, it will receive the translation as well, no need to duplicate the work, and that should be visible immediately in the web translation interface.

There is still need to translate the new 7.0 terms of course.

Watch out: Launchpad may not automatically export the PO files for other series affected by the new translations. So if you recently translated missing terms in 6.1, LP may not have exported the PO files in the trunk source code yet. It should do it as soon as you touch some terms in trunk *in the same module* (note: exports are done once per 24h). This may look annoying but should not be an issue, since it will be necessary to translate the new 7.0 terms anyway, so you will touch the new translations.

You can see this in the translation overview screen, for example right now:
 - for 6.1, Swedish translation of addons is complete at 78% (3.4k missing)
   https://translations.launchpad.net/openobject-addons/6.1
 - for trunk, Swedish translation of addons is complete at 54% (6.7k missing)
   https://translations.launchpad.net/openobject-addons/trunk
(PO files may not reflect this exactly, due to the delayed export issue explained above)

Moreover, when we create the new branches for OpenERP 7.0 today, there will be yet another series that will share the translations with the others. At that point it will be better to complete the translations in the 7.0 series rather than trunk, to make sure LP will export the terms in the 7.0 branch immediately.
