Re: Presentation of Odoo (formerly OpenERP) CommunityTools
Thank you Nhomar :),
This is a little more than a PoC because the whole marketplace is
working, including the currencies integrated which works with the
account module. Yet there is still a lot to do, for exemple improvement
with groups, governance or social CRM module doesn't exist yet etc... I
forgot to say, we have a demo available here : demo.wezer.org, robert /
robert (still an alpha, may not work well).
About github, of course migration is planned I am just waiting for the
official guideline from OCA so I can do it right. Github isn't a problem
for me, since my other project, wikicompare, is already hosted on it :
https://github.com/YannickB/wikicompare, but it's true I may need some
help. I especially want to create a mailinglist around the project as
soon as possible.
I agree gamification is really interesting for us, not for managing
currency but more for setting goal and trophy and thus implicate
members. I am also very interested by the modules you made for you, do
you have a link so I can have a look ?
You probably notice that for now the communityTools are only on the
backoffice for now, but we also want to make a frontend so users are not
forced into the odoo backoffice. This is especially true for the
marketplace, backoffice design isn't great for this.
But webdesign take time, especially since there isn't really good
documentation for Odoo CMS yet. This is why I prefer developing the
features in backoffice, test it with some customers really implicated in
the project and then think about funding the frontend development.
Here is the process I'd like to make :
First create a mailinglist for the community around Odoo CommunityTools,
so we can discuss about the conception. This is really our top priority
currently, because we are only three people in the conception for now
and we need more people to have a bigger picture of how it should work.
This is where we need the more help currently, any people interested by
the project is welcomed.
Once we have the specifications, develop it in odoo backoffice.
Then deploy it on some communities volunteer to test, this allow us to
verify we developed it the good way and eliminate most of the functional
bugs.
And then finally, take time to develop the feature on frontend so it has
a chance to go mainstream.
Of course this is not a onetime process, it shall be repeated for each
features/module.

I'll not make a detail presentation here, as I already made a long
one on my blog. Please follow this link to know more :

You can also see the source code here :

I really think the Idea conceptually is REALLY good.
I can see it is __yet__ a PoC am I right?
Can I help you to migrate it to github ?
I did some stuff like that but in separate modules for my own approach
in the company but I think they are so aligned to your Idea.
About the coin stuff I think the new gamification on V8 approach can
help a LOT.
Plan to migrate:
the very very basic part.
repository on: https://github.com/odoocommunity
I make you adminsitrator.
Activate basic stuff like bug and so on....
What do you think?
Regards.
