There is one reason:

   * Running the Pyro protocol as a module means that the module has to
     be loaded for the protocol to be available.

     So, until you run OpenERP with the "-d <database>" argument to
     select a database that already has the Pyro module installed (or
     log-in using NetRPC or XML-RPC to such database), Pyro won't be
     available. You won't be able to use it right out of the box when
     you install OpenERP; and you will be forced to create your first
     database and install the module via NetRPC or XML-RPC, before
     being able to use Pyro.
