Ubuntu 9.10 is the first distro to package up the version of MLT that
OpenShot needs to run.  Otherwise, you have to use a custom PPA, DEB
installers, or build MLT yourself.  However, even if I build MLT on Ubuntu
9.10 (32 bit version), I still get the strange output from "melt"... and
thus OpenShot.  What is weird though, is it works great in Ubuntu 9.10 64
bit version.

My guess is that there is some issue with SDL (this is how MLT outputs sound
and video to the screen), that is incompatbile with MLT... until someone
fixes it.
