Sorry, I'm a bit unclear from your reply if the file played OK with melt
or not.

Also, in your original post you have the following line in the command
line output:

Not the primary instance of OpenShot. Not starting queue watcher thread.

This may mean there is another instance still running, so you should
check your processes and kill any hanging processes of Openshot.

Status in OpenShot Video Editor: New

Bug description:
Trying to import PAL DV file. When I press play, there is a momentary blue flash in the video display area, then black. The time display in the lower left reads 00:00:00.199 for 1 second, then  00:00:00.200 for one second, then repeats both 4 times (5 times total, over 10 seconds). timer stops at  00:00:00.200

No error messages on command line.

Installed from PPA. Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic, 32bit on via savage km400 chipset.
