[Bug 600016] Re: Python 2.6 breaks Openshot in Debian Squeeze

Hi Glen,

I would guess that we need to report this to Debian or the Debian
packager of Openshot. A quick look at the dependencies for python-mlt
shows that as long as Python is less than version 2.7, it should be OK.
So I don't know where the problem is - in the updates from Debian or the
way python-mlt/libmlt3++ are packaged.

Bug description:
Hi,

This isn't really an Openshot bug but it affects Openshot in Debian Squeeze. Debian is moving toward making "Squeeze" into the next Debian Stable and part of the transition is the implementation of Python 2.6. An update of Python 2.6 today required the uninstallation of "python-mlt" and "libmlt3++" which effectively breaks Openshot. I'm sure this is not an unknown issue but since it affects Debian users and AV Linux users as well I thought I'd mention it.

If Jonathan or any devs could reply with an indication of how long this will be an issue (if that is possible to know at this point) it would be appreciated. My thanks and encouragement to the entire Openshot team, this project is an amazing accomplishment and the new features look very exciting!

Regards, Glen MacArthur, maintainer AV Linux
