Can you try running OpenShot from the terminal:
$ openshot

See if any errors appear in the terminal window.  Also, are you using
multiple monitors or just a single monitor?  Not sure if that would
cause the clips to snap to the wrong position...  Hmmm...

Also, just out of curiosity, you might try installing Ubuntu 10.10 in
VirtualBox, and see if OpenShot works there.

Status in OpenShot Video Editor: Won't Fix

Bug description:
When I add or move a clip in the timeline I have to hit zoom buttons to force a refresh of the timeline and the clips appears.

OS: Ubuntu 10.10 beta
Installation: Bundled package and PPA
Version: 1.1.3
