[Bug 697062] Re: Video plays with static in the audio

For what it's worth, that file plays fine on my Ubuntu 9.10 install
(with MLT 0.5.10). Your packages of ffmpeg, MLT or SDL could be at fault
(or even PulseAudio configuration).

Don't know much about file conversion formats I'm afraid.

Title:
Video plays with static in the audio

Status in OpenShot Video Editor:
  New

Bug description:
    1) This video plays fine and audio sounds normal using ffplay.
  2) Video works fine, but audio is staticy in melt.
  3) Here are the details from ffmpeg about my video:

Input #0, mpeg, from 'M2U00302.MPG':
  Duration: 00:00:03.97, start: 0.221544, bitrate: 9110 kb/s
    Stream #0.0[0x1e0]: Video: mpeg2video, yuv420p, 720x480 [PAR 32:27 DAR 16:9], 9100 kb/s, 29.97 fps, 29.97 tbr, 90k tbn, 59.94 tbc
    Stream #0.1[0x80]: Audio: ac3, 48000 Hz, stereo, s16, 256 kb/s

  4) Yes, I have attached a small video which exhibits static in the audio when playing with melt.

I have tested the same video on a second computer, which does not exhibit the same audio problem. I'm hoping it's just a case of a missing or incorrect version of some package. If it comes down to trying to convert the file to a different format using ffmpeg, what is the ideal format to convert it to with minimal (if any) loss of quality?

The following applies to both computers unless otherwise specified:
1) Ubuntu 10.10 x64
2) PPA
3) OpenShot 1.2.2
