I'm not sure what versions of ffmpeg/MLT are packaged with AV Linux 4.2
(I'm still on an older version), but you might want to check those.

Problem with OpensShot on AVLinux 4.2
Status in OpenShot Video Editor:
New
Bug description:
I downloaded and installed AVLinux 4.2 and imported 10 AVCHD lite clips
from my Panasonic ZS7 camera into OpenShot. When I clicked on the imported
clip to display it, the last approximate 2 seconds of the video, the display
went white. I then drug all the clips to the timeline and displayed them,
all of them displayed a white screen during the last 2 seconds of each clip.
