Re: PBXT tarballs and recommended version

Hi Tim,

Second level caching, by the way, is something I am very excited to see! Correct me if I am wrong, but that is where the hybrid (SSD + Spinning Media) optimization is?

Yes. SSD drives are mostly too expensive and unreliable for a database at the moment.

But because of the fast access time they are great as a caching layer between RAM and rotating disks.

Hi Brian,

1.0 is the best tested, and is in production. I will post the latest tarball to Launchpad.

1.1 has some significant improvements in how it handles I/O. But it is not as widely used, so is recommended for production only after testing.

In blogs and talks, I now usually refer to 1.5 and upwards because they have the cool features like 2nd-level caching and engine level replication.

I've been watching the development via LaunchPad as well as the blog.

LaunchPad CHANGELOG shows 1.0.11-7 in September and 1.0.11-8 in November, but no tarballs are listed on the website.

The blog and presentations talk about 1.1 but I cannot find a tarball for it.

Currently, we have deployed 1.0.11-6 and it seems to be working well.
What is a recommended version for a production environment?
Is the 1.1 or 1.5 series "safe" for use at this time?
