ok, I forgot to mention an old version of libportaudio2 (from 8.10) is needed to have it working more properly as they explain on the download page :

the problem was in 9.04, I can confirm it's still there in 9.10 (cause
freezes and misc problems)

building libportaudio2 from source seems to be a good option also

Status in Puredyne liveCD/DVD/USB/HD: Fix Committed

Bug description:
in the last dev iso I tried (downloaded Sun 9 around 00:00), mixxx won't run!

it just seg faults,

I tested my sound card, it works fine with other software (puredata)

anyway, i noticed it's a very old version of mixxx (1.6.1), I would be more than happy to test the latest (1.7.1) if you build it.

I know there was a problem with libportaudio until 9.04, hopefully it is solved in 9.10
