I suspected that this might be the case. So, out of the hands of the
qreator developers! (also sounds to me like it should be solved somewhere
else).

Yes, it does change almost instantly when new data is entered.

To reproduce:
    Go to the "About" tab
    Press a button (say the "License" button)
    Observe the button goes orange ("highlighted")
    Go to the "New" tab
    Go back to the "About" tab
    The "License" button is still orange
