RaiMan proposed the following answer:
when running on OS X 10.10, the search field is still switched off and the IDE works.
tested with the nightly build from today.

It is not possible to switch back to a prior nightly build.

If you want to switch back, you have to make a backup of sikulix.jar and sikulixapi.jar and store it in a history folder.
an older setup should only be repeated, if the needed stuff is available in the Downloads folder (which is an offline setup).
