Hi,

Based on http://blog.shiftreduce.org/?p=13.

I tried the following : 

- put the switch on "speed"
- Booting a BartPE installation of windows XP on CD
- it bluescreens at some point
- press the power button that actually toggle the switch from nothing to speed
- boot on linux with acpi_osi="Microsoft Windows 2001" or "Microsoft Windows 
2006" on the kernel command line
- you restart or power off, no luck the switch resets.

Have you tried the patched DSDT ?
What is the real difference with overriding the osi ?
