Re: vgn-z790 wwan module missing

I think I got it, the new Z series come with the qualcomm gobi chipsets, not the option ones so the device is handled by the qcserial module in the 2.6.30 and later kernels. It requires a firmware loader that actually activates the device. It also has a built-in gps but it seems that it needs to be enabled through the driver somehow.
I guess a rfkill device would be nice for powersaving but unloading the firmware from the device might do it if it is possible.

Raphael,

there was a wwan module under Vista, it is listed in the hardware configuration, it does not have a sim slot because it's with a CDMA US provider called Verizon (that's who Sony contracts with for the US).

Thanks

Do you have a wwan module (phisically) on board?
A Vista partition is not necessary to see if you have eg. a
SIM-card-slot: it is located behind the battery-module..
