Bummer, you seem to be right.
But why on earth does it work on my laptop without that setting?
In fact I have forgotten what the acpi_osi is about, so can someone
repeat what it is for and tell me how to check whether it actually
worked.
Anyway I will file a serious bug against grub2 and trash it immediately.
That is a pain.
