This is the normal use of the sensor as a security fixture.  As I said
before, I don't care for it.

"Best" is dependent on your measuring stick.  It would be immensely more
useful to me if a touch in that thing was interpreted as a mouse (middle)
button.

So far, I know of three ways of producing that button given the handicapped
Alps touchpad:

1) The traditional two button press.  Ergonomical hell, because of the
fingerprint reader in the middle.

2) Mapping a corner of the touchpad to the button, as per instructions
Patrick postelast month.  This is my favorite solution so far, but a bit
unreliable since sometimes I don't touch the corner correctly.

3) Mapping the click to a key (I use Menu) via xte.  Usability is between
(1) and (2), but does not work well in combination with modifiers.
