Re: new testing release of sony-laptop-zseries 0.9np8pre1
Hi All,
Just a quick note to add to this....
There seems to be a lot of concern that when using this module in stamina
mode the NVidia card still appears in an lspci list. This is indeed the case,
however THAT IS HOW IT IS MEANT TO WORK! In an ideal world, if the NVidia
drivers understood about resourse allocation in the presence of the Intel,
this would be the case for speed mode too, and that way the brightness would
work - however, none of the NVidia drivers currently work and so it is
necessary to statically switch using one of the various techniques in order to
use the NVidia card.
Despite the NVidia card appearing, using Norbert's module in dynamic
switching stamina mode uses no more power than using static stamina mode (
well, technically a very small amount more but not much! ) Mind you, with
acpi_osi="", if you use Linux exclusively then you will probably always be in
static mode - causes havoc with Windows though!
Finally despite me being quiet lately I am still about, though there are
so many useful people on this list these days there isn't much of a need for
me to chime in! ( Been stupidly busy too :(. )
Adam.
