We really need to be editing the wiki pages (

through months of uncertain conversation fragments.
I (and others) have found the "acpi_osi= " boot parameter to be useful with
the vanilla linux-2.6.38-rc3 kernel on Ubuntu 10.10-amd64. It makes the NEXT
boot detect the position of the three-way switch. (That is, it goes into
effect only at shutdown.) This is with no changes to the BIOS.

(I added the section "... as long as you do the following things(!)" to list
the things that I thought were FAR from obvious -- esp. the "kpartx" trick
for detecting the RAID0 drive.)
