Hi Nicklas,

I presume you are referring to the nvidia gpu. As far a I know nvidia does
not work with KMS, that why you need to need to supply the "nomodeset"
kernel parameter at boot. It seems nvidia is reluctant to join the KMS
bandwagon.

For some -for me- mysterious reason the brightness control and so is linked
to the integrated Intel GPU and does not work with nvidia. You can browse
the various threads for more information on that topic.

I have a Vaio VPCZ13 C5E and have been trying to get the nvidia working with
brightness control but with no success.
