Re: oneiric already worth trying?

Hi Andreas,

i'm also using a Z13C5E and switched from Natty to Oneiric a week ago. As far
as i can tell the same procedure and restrictions from Natty also apply to
Oneiric. But i didn't play with screen brightness, hibernation, etc.. I don't
use Intel graphics but always run with Nvidia enabled (speed setting), because
i need CUDA.

I don't remember if i installed from Desktop CD or DVD. But i did not have to
specify any special parameters for installation. I used the graphical
installer. So installation worked just out-of-the-box. I installed the official
Nvidia driver. To enable Nvidia graphics, i installed the linux-
image-2.6.28.10-vaioz_2.6.28.10-vaioz-10.00.Custom_amd64.deb kernel package
from http://www.voip-x.co.uk/files/adam/. This kernel instantly reboots and the
graphics switch is set to speed for the next boot. I added
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="acpi_osi=\"\"" to /etc/default/grub. With this option, i
only have to boot Adam's Kernel, if my last session was on Windows. The switch
keeps the speed setting on consecutive Linux boots.
