Thanks for the replies. Looking on the sonystyle website it calls it:


   - VAIO® digital noise cancelling processor

So what are the chances that it is proprietary? pretty high I would guess.
But  I wonder if there are any open source  firmware/driver rocket
scientists out there that could figure it out? Maybe put it out there as a
feature request in the alsa bugtracker?
