Hi Tukka,
what distro are you using? If you're on a ubuntu based, try the
alsa-hda-dkms package. Then you do need to edit the
/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf and add the *snd-hda-intel
model=auto***at the end of the file. Hda-jack-retask is a last resort
solution to remap the pins if none of the recommended solutions work.
Also keep in mind that if you are using a headset that you must select
the right microphone. I'm assuming that you don't have a split cable
headset but one that has the single mini-jack with the three back
stripes. Make sure that you have selected that one in alsamixer or
whatever gui.

Hi all,
Does anyone have an analog headset (including a microphone) working
via the headphone jack in a Sony Vaio Z21? That is, I can play audio
through the headset as expected but I haven't been able to record
through the headset microphone.
I had a quick look and found "sudo modprobe snd-hda-intel model=auto"
and "hda-jack-retask" as generic solutions in this direction but
didn't find any direct solution for this laptop. Any pointers
appreciated.
Cheers,
Tuukka
