Message #00694
New Debian ISO to zsync
Hi guys,
As I am fairly certain this fixes the looooong boot issue when reusing a
swap partition I uploaded the latest ISO with the latest OBI
I think this is a *winner*... or at least I sure hope it is!!
I will try to test it soon (i haven't yet) but please do check the issue
by following these steps:
(if you have no OS already on the drive)
Install ToriOS at the basic (normal) level
Reboot (may not be needed...)
Install ToriOS at the advanced level
-you can choose:
Partition drives and Install alongside current OS
OR
change the level to advanced in:
basic Installer Mode: (basic / advanced)
Then reuse the original swap partition
Reboot
Boot into the first ToriOS you installed (or whatever previous
installation where you are reusing the SWAP partition)
This should boot normally.
Boot into the second ToriOS you installed.
This should also boot normally.
If this works, then I say we call it good for now and release.
There is still the issue of jwm-settings-manager and the
file-permissions/default having a wallpaper line...
This is something I can focus on now (assuming the long boot is fixed)
There is also a request to update the bootloader from firstrun (the
pop-up window when you first install the OS and boot into it)
Any other helpful tasks to do can be incorporated easily into this menu
if there is anything people really want, like install common extra
software (gimp,libreoffice,vlc,inkscape,games,better text
editors,general programming software, etc....)
I am all for making ToriOS the easiest Debian for people to use.
I think our software installer is quite nice, and is extraordinarily
simple to use. At least I like it on the same level as the terminal
(except searching for things is way easier....) which is saying a lot,
as I never use synaptic or any other software center, but I would use
this fairly regularly.
